2011 AN EXCEPTIONAL YEAR FOR BLACK GRAPE VARIETIES

The 2011 harvest was truly exceptional, one to remember, because results such as these are seen rarely, every thirty-to-forty years. “Impenetrable colors, very high polyphenols, above average alcohol levels, excellent body, special bouquets", is the enthusiastic comment of wine expert Giovanni Stival. The old saying, “good wine grows in the country” perfectly encapsulates the 2011 harvest, especially for black grape varieties. The white grape harvest had already given signs that this would be a special year, and now that has been confirmed. "All indications are that we will have splendid aged red wines," adds Giovanni. At the winery, things have been very busy in recent weeks during this crucial period. "All the varieties are evolving in an impressive way,” reports wine expert Giovanni. “Our commitment is to bring out the splendid organoleptic characteristics offered by the 2011 harvest.” The good results of this year are also the fruit of a skillful combination of the efforts of Mother Nature―a sunny summer with rain at the right time—and experience developed over years of committed work. Wine-making is not an exact science and much depends on intuition and instinct. Giovanni Stival often follows his sixth sense without being overwhelmed or distracted by the myriad illusions that assail traditional values. And the results prove him right.
