In the vineyards Nature expresses itself in a show that has no equal.
What a satisfaction in this harvest gather the clusters from the branches. The grapes are spectacular, healthy and heavy grapes, berries intact and firm, surrounded by velvety bloom . We do not say to flatter, but was since many years you could not see such a sight . "For at least a decade, so we did not have a vintage as 2013 - tells the winemaker Giovanni Stival -. Really do not want to bore you but in the vineyards the scenery is outstanding."
The climate in 2013 was this unusual; cold and rainy spring, until the first week of June, good temperatures in July and then scorching heat from late July to almost all of August. Unusual weather conditions that have generated results out of the ordinary. Starting from the time of harvesting. In this 2013 has returned to harvest in the fall, September is the month of the clusters no longer August as happened for several years. It was a return to the past: the autumn, the season of the grape par excellence.
"To our advantage we had the good fortune of healthy grapes, thanks to the careful control of what was happening in the vineyard, preventing the onset of diseases - says Giovanni Stival -. Pluvio Jupiter (lord of rain and storms of the greek-roman mythology) was benevolent, saving from the hailstorms which unfortunately elsewhere have made devastation."
In summary the harvest in the vineyard is perfect: it is a triumph of scents and colors, and of  sugar and yield. In the first weeks of September in steel vats of Moletto winery came the white grape varieties: Pinot Grigio, Glera (Prosecco), Chardonnay, Lison ... " Very nice whites, fruity; in Pinot Grigio the peach note is outstanding . It looks very structured, with alcohol content of 12.50% by vol.. About Prosecco, I've never seen so, it is special - tell off Giovanni Stival - with intense perfumes, aromatic, very elegant. A real challenge for me is represented by Chardonnay that excites me for the characteristics of the scents and aromas. This vintage, the Chardonnay is round, very fruity with tropical notes. A perfect base on which to work for a wine of high quality and at the same time moderately alcoholic, in order to be appreciated even by those who must then work or drive. "
And the black grape varieties? "They stand up to the intense colors, sweet tannins, the density, for their high alcohol content that was not expected having regard to the climate of the year. Then a constant surprise at all stages of production, from harvest to vinification. I want only to announce that Malbech will be a wonderful surprise as it was at the time of harvest. It was the first to be raised between the black grape varieties, followed by a continuous growth of emotions and satisfaction as all varieties have been brought to the cellar. The premises are all to create excellent wines."
It is a return to the origins this vintage 2013; it is the relish with renewed wonder what Mother Nature can be generous.
