Weather conditions to-date have been excellent. A not-too-cold winter, mild spring and sunny summer with some rain. The climatic conditions fostered vigorous growth in the vineyards which were kept properly thinned.
"The previsions are good," reports enologist Giovanni Stival. "The harvest schedule has returned to the years before 2007, a year in which harvest occurred very early. The grapes are of excellent quality and extremely healthy. What we are all hoping for are favorable weather conditions for harvesting so that these expectations will be born out."
Much will depend on weather conditions during September which, if they remain sunny, can only render the already-positive results even more so.
General forecasts call for over 11 million grapes to be harvested, given that the Veneto region remains one of the key areas on a national level.
