Ingredients: 8 firm Kaiser pears, 1 package puff pastry, 50 g butter, 5 tbsp sugar.
To prepare: Peel the pears and cut into 6 wedges each.
Melt the butter in a non-stick baking dish, overlap the pear wedges in a fan-shape to cover the entire bottom of the dish. Sprinkle with sugar and cook the pears quickly so that they are lightly caramelized.
Cover with the puff pastry and fold the edges towards the center. Prick around the top of the pastry with a fork.
Bake in a pre-heated oven until the pastry is golden and crusty.
Remove from the oven and quickly overturn the tart onto a serving plate. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
The pears may be substituted by peaches or apricots for a delicious variation on this Tarte Tatin.
